Stop AI Data Centers - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Stop AI Data Centers

Data centers, including those for AI, are cropping up across Texas. If we are not exceedingly smart with their design, placement, and purpose, they will cause higher water and power bills, run water wells dry, and may hurt jobs.

The TX Ag Commissioner can stop, or at the very least buy time for locals and other officials to find different ways to stop, these irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass water/power inflation. On Day 1 of the job, Clayton will issue "Ag Impact Studies" to stop irresponsible AI data centers from messing with Texas.

For a data center to be considered responsible, it must:

  1. Not cause power disruptions or inflation.
  2. Use brackish or other non-drinking water in a sustainable way, thereby not causing water bill inflation.
  3. Use unionized Texas labor for construction and maintenance.
  4. Pay fair and adequate taxes to their local community.
  5. Not contribute to the the inflation of RAM, computer memory, or other components leading to inflation of electronics.
  6. Not to be placed on prime farmland.
  7. Not be used to automate jobs away, used to promote propaganda, or be used to create a subscription economy where working people own nothing and billionaires own everything.

Data centers, including those for AI, are coming to mess with Texas. With them will come higher water and power bills, dry water wells, and no real jobs. These data centers are of, by, and for Wall Street. They will harm both Main Street families and County Road farms. We need an Agriculture Commissioner who will fight to stop all irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass utility inflation and who will put Texans first, not Wall Street or Big Tech.

Water is already a limited resource here n Texas. We don’t need these AI centers draining one of our most precious resources, especially since our agriculture depends so much on it and our communities.

Not in TX, but it’s happening here in NE too and I don’t think anyone realizes. Where I live (Kearney, NE) is pushing to build one 😡!

Data centers all over TX is the most anti-resident thing politicians can do. And one has to wonder why leaders have and continue looking the other way. Abbott isn’t calling a special session, he just sent a letter to energy providers to do analysis and basically sort it themselves. These will tank property values, ruin farmland and the landscape of TX on top of raid us further to pay for them and guess who will be left with the damages when there’s a leak or hazard or even when they eventually shut down. The local area will near that burden. TX can’t even fix wells that are leaking and politting the environment. And our power grid has basically been run like National Lampoon Christmas, praying that nothing blows or catches fire. Residents are speaking loud and clear that we do not want these data centers.

Help increase our impact!
