Stop AI Data Centers - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Stop AI Data Centers

Data centers, including those for AI, are cropping up across Texas. If we are not exceedingly smart with their design, placement, and purpose, they will cause higher water and power bills, run water wells dry, and may hurt jobs.

The TX Ag Commissioner can stop, or at the very least buy time for locals and other officials to find different ways to stop, these irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass water/power inflation or harming . On Day 1 of the job, Clayton will issue "Ag Impact Studies" to force data centers to be honest with their resource consumption. This will also slow them down considerably. Clayton will also help locals set up "Ag Development Districts" so that locals can fight back.

For a data center to be considered responsible, it must:

  1. Not cause power disruptions or inflation.
  2. Use brackish or other non-drinking water in a sustainable way, thereby not causing water bill inflation.
  3. Use unionized Texas labor for construction and maintenance.
  4. Pay fair and adequate taxes to their local community.
  5. Not contribute to the the inflation of RAM, computer memory, or other components leading to inflation of electronics.
  6. Not to be placed on prime farmland.
  7. Not be used to automate jobs away, used to promote propaganda, or be used to create a subscription economy where working people own nothing and billionaires own everything.

Data centers, including those for AI, are coming to mess with Texas. With them will come higher water and power bills, dry water wells, and no real jobs. These data centers are of, by, and for Wall Street. They will harm both Main Street families and County Road farms. We need an Agriculture Commissioner who will fight to stop all irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass utility inflation and who will put Texans first, not Wall Street or Big Tech.

They don’t care what or who they destroy and are either pushing them through or are buying their way through.

My small town of Childress has seen a massive influx of new “residents” aka temporary’s workers coming in and taking all the available housing, rents have tripled if not more, my rent was $500 when I moved in, my landlord was $850 when I was kicked out because my landlord wanted $1500 and now he’s asking for $4000, I’ve been homeless for 4 months, the water in our town is at an all time low at only 5% water availability at our lake, by this time next year our lake will be empty and our water will be gone, children’s will be as a whole forced to move and abandoned everything, these days center employees use water daily to wash clothes every single day, shower, wash dishes, and many of them are even buying pools when we are not supposed to have them, apartments all over town are getting bought out by companies coming in here to take advantage of our situation and the high paying data center employees, Madison chase was purchased, everyone is being evicted and rent is increasing from $850 to $1500 for a 1 bed, $2500 for a 2 bed and $3000 for a 3 bed and that’s with a matching deposit, while people are going homeless in Childress data center worked keep finding and taking homes from us, that we can’t find or afford, they are using thousands of gallons of our already short water either a day or a month that wouldn’t be used if they were not here, our water would last us longer, they are taking all of the housing we have and forcing people from their homes, they are polluting our town, they are visiting all of our local stores and restaurants increasing the level of business making employees all over Childress work harder than ever before while they get no incentives or pay raises for this, the impact these data centers have had on Texas all over and Childress have been catastrophic and we need to stop any more from being built, we have got to put an end to this mayhem, if wr don’t then soon enough all of Texas will cease to exist outside of data centers because nothing will be affordable and water will be next to non existent

We do not need data centers for our present day day-to-day lives and there are too many unknown occurrences happening that the general public has not and may not to consent to. For these reasons I am opposed to all new data centers that public response and permission have not been solicited.
