Lampasas, TX - President Donald Trump omitted Republican Agriculture Commissioner nominee Nate Sheets from his latest Texas endorsement list, days after outgoing Republican Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller published an op-ed criticizing Sheets and publicly declared he did not vote for him.
Democratic Agriculture Commissioner nominee Clayton Tucker responded:
"Nate the Fake claims to have built a honey empire and still couldn't sweet-talk his way onto a 36-name list. Maybe he should not have imported all that foreign honey to put American farmers last."
Sheets founded Nature Nate's Honey, which later faced a federal lawsuit alleging it misled consumers by labeling products as raw and pure. The lawsuit raised questions about the company's processing and labeling practices.
The omission follows Miller's op-ed criticizing Sheets and his recent appearance alongside Tucker on MS NOW with Katy Tur, where Miller said he did not vote for Governor Greg Abbott or Sheets. When asked whether he supports Tucker, Miller responded, “I do wish him well.”
During the interview, Tucker and Miller also discussed concerns about unregulated AI data centers and their effects on Texas water, farmland, and electricity costs.
"At the end of the day, all Texans want the same thing. Affordable food, healthy land, and clean water," Tucker said.
