Lampasas, TX - Clayton Tucker, Democratic candidate for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, announced today that his campaign has officially surpassed Republican nominee Nate Cheets in cash on hand, marking a major fundraising milestone in the race.
According to the latest campaign finance reports, the Clayton Tucker campaign has $162,455.86 cash on hand, compared to $104,506.79 for Republican nominee Nate Cheets.
"Just months ago, people said a grassroots campaign couldn't compete," said Clayton Tucker. "Now we've got more cash on hand than the Republican nominee for Agriculture Commissioner. That says everything about where this race is headed."
The fundraising milestone comes after months of steady grassroots growth, with nearly 4,000 donors and thousands of volunteers joining the campaign through issue-based organizing focused on fighting back against data centers, protecting Texas water, and standing up to corporate monopolies that have been rigging both our economy and politics for decades. Those priorities have fueled the campaign's grassroots strategy of building support through petitions, local organizing, and on-the-ground engagement with Texans.
"For the Democratic nominee to have more resources on hand and to out-organize this early should be a wake-up call," Tucker added. "Texans are looking for someone who will fight the greedy few."
"Our momentum is only growing," Tucker said. "This race has always been about organized people beating organized money. Today is another sign that organized people are fighting back."
