Lampasas, TX - Texas Agriculture Commissioner candidate Clayton Tucker condemned the arrest of a North Texas woman who was jailed after raising concerns online about local water quality issues in Trinidad, Texas

Jennifer Combs was arrested and charged after making a Facebook post discussing reports of possible illnesses connected to the city’s water supply. The city later acknowledged ongoing water infrastructure problems, while the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality confirmed an investigation into the water system is underway.

“Texans should never fear arrest for speaking up about dirty water,” Tucker said. “When people see brown water coming out of their taps, they have every right to ask questions and warn their neighbors.”

“Instead of silencing people, officials should focus on fixing aging infrastructure and protecting public health. Texans deserve clean water, transparency, and the freedom to speak out when something is wrong.”

Tucker said the incident reflects ongoing concerns across Texas over water infrastructure, public trust, and resource management.

“Water is becoming one of the biggest fights in Texas,” Tucker said. “Regular people should not be ignored while powerful interests and failed leadership put communities at risk.”
