Stop AI Data Centers - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Stop AI Data Centers

Data centers, including those for AI, are cropping up across Texas. If we are not exceedingly smart with their design, placement, and purpose, they will cause higher water and power bills, run water wells dry, and may hurt jobs.

The TX Ag Commissioner can stop, or at the very least buy time for locals and other officials to find different ways to stop, these irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass water/power inflation. On Day 1 of the job, Clayton will issue "Ag Impact Studies" to stop irresponsible AI data centers from messing with Texas.

For a data center to be considered responsible, it must:

  1. Not cause power disruptions or inflation.
  2. Use brackish or other non-drinking water in a sustainable way, thereby not causing water bill inflation.
  3. Use unionized Texas labor for construction and maintenance.
  4. Pay fair and adequate taxes to their local community.
  5. Not contribute to the the inflation of RAM, computer memory, or other components leading to inflation of electronics.
  6. Not to be placed on prime farmland.
  7. Not be used to automate jobs away, used to promote propaganda, or be used to create a subscription economy where working people own nothing and billionaires own everything.

Data centers, including those for AI, are coming to mess with Texas. With them will come higher water and power bills, dry water wells, and no real jobs. These data centers are of, by, and for Wall Street. They will harm both Main Street families and County Road farms. We need an Agriculture Commissioner who will fight to stop all irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass utility inflation and who will put Texans first, not Wall Street or Big Tech.

I oppose the creation of data centers in Texas due to their inherent unsustainablity and detriment to the communities they’re in.

I am a field technician and work with heavy machinery/rental equipment. I very frequently visit data centers all over Lancaster TX, more specifically off of belt line road. Every time I am dispatched to a service call to any major data center sites, I feel an unforgivable guilt to our society and our future generations. I have a 4 y/o daughter. And with every turn of my wrench or machine that I fix at these job sites . I feel ashamed of myself for allowing what feels like an inevitable downfall of humanity. As I witness the operator level out acres of land with a skid loader or an electrician run wire on a scissor lift at an almost-complete data center, it makes feel attached to something beyond evil. Like I’m enabling these damn conglomerate companies to continue to destroy our local Texas towns. I don’t know how to fight back without losing my job thus not providing for my family. But something has to give. These data centers have hundreds and hundreds of “employees”. 99% of which are from all over South of the border and south America and are just here to finish the job and go back home with no effect of the finish product to their lives. Leaving Texans left out to dry, almost literally. I understand we all have a job to do and a life to manage. But there are so many other job sites and projects WITH ACTUAL HUMAN PURPOSE. Hospitals, fire stations, elementary schools, airports, etc. are all examples of job sites I love contributing to 24/7 and will continue to for as long as I’m able bodied. But the data centers have got to go and I’m so excited to stumble upon this petition. Now let’s get to work.

I disagree with this new idea of a data center in the middle of livestock due to animals and nature we need to preserve for our future generations and the environment! If you are a lover of earth you’d agree and would understand the people of land. We need to save Texas not pollute it!
