Stop AI Data Centers - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Stop AI Data Centers

Data centers, including those for AI, are cropping up across Texas. If we are not exceedingly smart with their design, placement, and purpose, they will cause higher water and power bills, run water wells dry, and may hurt jobs.

The TX Ag Commissioner can stop, or at the very least buy time for locals and other officials to find different ways to stop, these irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass water/power inflation. On Day 1 of the job, Clayton will issue "Ag Impact Studies" to stop irresponsible AI data centers from messing with Texas.

For a data center to be considered responsible, it must:

  1. Not cause power disruptions or inflation.
  2. Use brackish or other non-drinking water in a sustainable way, thereby not causing water bill inflation.
  3. Use unionized Texas labor for construction and maintenance.
  4. Pay fair and adequate taxes to their local community.
  5. Not contribute to the the inflation of RAM, computer memory, or other components leading to inflation of electronics.
  6. Not to be placed on prime farmland.
  7. Not be used to automate jobs away, used to promote propaganda, or be used to create a subscription economy where working people own nothing and billionaires own everything.

Data centers, including those for AI, are coming to mess with Texas. With them will come higher water and power bills, dry water wells, and no real jobs. These data centers are of, by, and for Wall Street. They will harm both Main Street families and County Road farms. We need an Agriculture Commissioner who will fight to stop all irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass utility inflation and who will put Texans first, not Wall Street or Big Tech.

We’re fighting no less than four data centers in Far West Texas and next to El Paso – we are the West Texas defense fund Inc.

Let’s talk about burying the power lines and hardening our energy infrastructure against natural disasters and cyber attacks.

Also, does anyone remember the whole winter storm debacle? Then we bought a bunch of useless generators as a solution only to find they don’t actually provide enough power to help.

I think it is a mistake that the data centers were allowed to be placed in our area and surrounding areas. Residents are cut down to 2,000 gal a month. The residents are more important then the data centers. They will take all of the water we have and green belt lake is already very low. Meanwhile our water bills have gone up.

Theft of our precious, life saving water resources are Crimes Against Humanity and must be stopped. Citizens first. Not corporations!
