Stop AI Data Centers - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Stop AI Data Centers

Data centers, including those for AI, are cropping up across Texas. If we are not exceedingly smart with their design, placement, and purpose, they will cause higher water and power bills, run water wells dry, and may hurt jobs.

The TX Ag Commissioner can stop, or at the very least buy time for locals and other officials to find different ways to stop, these irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass water/power inflation or harming . On Day 1 of the job, Clayton will issue "Ag Impact Studies" to force data centers to be honest with their resource consumption. This will also slow them down considerably. Clayton will also help locals set up "Ag Development Districts" so that locals can fight back.

For a data center to be considered responsible, it must:

  1. Not cause power disruptions or inflation.
  2. Use brackish or other non-drinking water in a sustainable way, thereby not causing water bill inflation.
  3. Use unionized Texas labor for construction and maintenance.
  4. Pay fair and adequate taxes to their local community.
  5. Not contribute to the the inflation of RAM, computer memory, or other components leading to inflation of electronics.
  6. Not to be placed on prime farmland.
  7. Not be used to automate jobs away, used to promote propaganda, or be used to create a subscription economy where working people own nothing and billionaires own everything.

Data centers, including those for AI, are coming to mess with Texas. With them will come higher water and power bills, dry water wells, and no real jobs. These data centers are of, by, and for Wall Street. They will harm both Main Street families and County Road farms. We need an Agriculture Commissioner who will fight to stop all irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass utility inflation and who will put Texans first, not Wall Street or Big Tech.

Thank you for standing up for Texans. We should not be forced to sacrifice our environment and water security to line billionaire pockets.

We Do Not want these Data centers. We will be living 3 miles from one and our son 3/4 mile from one they are trying to put in in Frio county on FM1582.

Absolutely no data centers anywhere. Not my community, not my neighboring community, not anywhere. Why? WATER. We’re already having water issues without adding data centers to the mix. What is wrong with our legislators? Greed? No Data Centers.

These huge data centres are horrible for our environment. They consume outrageous amounts of water and energy, in a world where both these have become precious commodities. The noise and light pollution from data centres are detrimental to migrating birds and both domestic and wild animals. Nobody wants these, except the wealthy who stand to make a profit on these at our expense.
