Stop AI Data Centers - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Stop AI Data Centers

Data centers, including those for AI, are cropping up across Texas. If we are not exceedingly smart with their design, placement, and purpose, they will cause higher water and power bills, run water wells dry, and may hurt jobs.

The TX Ag Commissioner can stop, or at the very least buy time for locals and other officials to find different ways to stop, these irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass water/power inflation or harming . On Day 1 of the job, Clayton will issue "Ag Impact Studies" to force data centers to be honest with their resource consumption. This will also slow them down considerably. Clayton will also help locals set up "Ag Development Districts" so that locals can fight back.

For a data center to be considered responsible, it must:

  1. Not cause power disruptions or inflation.
  2. Use brackish or other non-drinking water in a sustainable way, thereby not causing water bill inflation.
  3. Use unionized Texas labor for construction and maintenance.
  4. Pay fair and adequate taxes to their local community.
  5. Not contribute to the the inflation of RAM, computer memory, or other components leading to inflation of electronics.
  6. Not to be placed on prime farmland.
  7. Not be used to automate jobs away, used to promote propaganda, or be used to create a subscription economy where working people own nothing and billionaires own everything.

Data centers, including those for AI, are coming to mess with Texas. With them will come higher water and power bills, dry water wells, and no real jobs. These data centers are of, by, and for Wall Street. They will harm both Main Street families and County Road farms. We need an Agriculture Commissioner who will fight to stop all irresponsible AI data centers from causing mass utility inflation and who will put Texans first, not Wall Street or Big Tech.

Water is a very limited resource. We are constantly under water restrictions! Restrictions will only become more severe as more data center are located in TX.

The city of Temple has a population of a little over 100,000. The city council has already approved 10 data centers, possibly 12 even though the citizens don’t want them. At the city council meetings they basically ignore anyone who brings up not wanting them built in the city. Something fishy is going on with how many data centers are being pushed through across the country in spite of citizens voicing their concerns and telling politicians that they don’t want them built but nobody listens or cares.

Please stop with AI data centers. Gigantic computers were the norm in the beginning. We learned to make them small. Gigantic AI Data centers that disrupt the countryside , air, electricity, sound, and water don’t need to be built. Use just one AI center to tell us how to build tiny centers that will stop destroying land using so much electricity and water.
