Hemp - Clayton Tucker for TX Ag Commissioner Skip navigation

Hemp

Hemp is an important product with many uses and benefits.

As Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Clayton Tucker fully supports the right for every farmer to raise hemp, and adults to consume hemp products, without undue interference from government or corporations. Clayton is against any corporation creating a monopoly on hemp production or processing. Clayton supports fair and transparent labeling for all hemp products. Clayton will work with both Congress and the Texas Legislature to achieve this.

I strongly disagree with banning hemp and THCA products.

Americans value personal freedom and personal responsibility. Adults should be able to make informed choices about legal hemp products without the government taking those choices away.

For me, hemp and THCA products have been life-changing. They help me manage my daily life in a way that other products haven’t. If these products are banned, many Texans who rely on them for relief will be left with fewer options.

What doesn’t make sense to me is that tobacco—which has a well-established history of causing serious disease and death—is still legal, while hemp products that many adults use responsibly are being targeted. If the goal is protecting public health, why focus on hemp instead of products that have caused far greater harm?

Banning hemp would also hurt Texas businesses, employees, and families who depend on this industry for their income.

Many people use hemp to help manage pain, stress, anxiety, or other challenges. Some can’t tolerate certain prescription medications because of allergies or side effects. Taking away an option that works for them could leave many people struggling.

I respectfully ask lawmakers to protect responsible adult access to legal hemp products, support Texas businesses, and allow people the freedom to choose what works best for their own health and well-being instead of removing that choice.

Hemp should be legal, it doesn’t kill people, it helps them with anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD, chronic pain etc.

I hope you win in November! Thank you for all you’re doing to call attention to the fracking, hemp, water shortage, cattle and ag production issues we are seeing in TX.
