765 kV Lines
In a state as prosperous as Texas with billions in our rainy day fund, Texas should start burying transmission lines, including but not limited to the 765 kV lines.
While burying transmission lines will be more expensive up front, it will pay long-term dividends and will likely pay for itself.
Buried lines are better than above-ground transmission lines due to:
- Above-ground lines are extremely susceptible to weather, constantly needing repair. This will be less of a problem when they're buried.
- Above-ground lines can release PFAFs/PFOAs/forever chems into soil, harming our soil, farms, and food in some situations. Buried ones don't.
- Above-ground lines can release electro-magnetic radiation, while buried ones can be shielded.
- Above-ground lines harm property values. Buried ones won't.
- Above-ground lines scar Texas. Buried ones don't.
Texas should start burying all transmission lines and have them follow roadways to stop harming private property, including but not limited to the 765 kV lines. No more scarring Texas!
